Carved into a south facing mountainside this passive solar was designed and built by the architect. The north wall of this post and beam structure is fully embedded into the earth. A sunspace collects heat at the upper level which is then ducted to lower level bedrooms. The sunny open interior is framed in laminated beams and illuminated by a central skylight. To reduce the impact of westerly wind an air lock entry was placed between the front door and the living spaces.
