The extensive renovation of a poorly built 1060’s era home involved removing the entire second floor and lowering the grade on the back of the house six feet. In place of the dark, inaccessible entry a sun-lit two story central hall was created that unified the entire plan. The expanded second floor now provides for a generous master bedroom with its own deck as well as three bedrooms and a family laundry. The remaining portion of the house was gutted and refinished including a new kitchen and family room. All new windows, doors, lighting and mechanical systems adapted the house to today’s energy demands.
